The West Campus of the North Carolina Justice Academy is part of the North Carolina Department of Justice. Like its companion campus, located in Salemburg, it is charged with the task of improving the quality and effectiveness of criminal justice services to the citizens of North Carolina through training, research, and support for criminal justice and related personnel. The West Campus is located in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, in Henderson County, approximately seven miles east of Hendersonville and I-26, on Highway 64 East. The campus covers approximately 23 acres and consists of five high-tech classrooms, modern cafeteria, gymnasium/weight room, learning resource center, defensive tactics facility, computer classroom, media unit, distance learning facility, and a law enforcement operations center classroom (including jail cells and interview/interrogation rooms). Each classroom is equipped with multimedia equipment for use by full-time and adjunct instructors. Course offerings cover a wide range of subjects including:
