| The Video Production Unit
is a component of the Academys Instructional Support Services Department,
under the administration of the Instructional Support Services Manager and
the Deputy Director of Support Services. The Video Production Units primary purpose is to develop digital and analog video products to supplement and enhance North Carolina criminal justice mandated training and courses designed and delivered by the Justice Academys training staff. Since 1986, over 500 tapes have been produced; many are available to NC law enforcement agencies for roll-call and in-service training. The Video Unit is located on the Salemburg campus in the Support Services Building. The Video space is over 2,150 square feet in size and consists of three offices, three edit suites, audio booth, conference area, duplicating and tape storage room and an engineering and equipment storage area. |

| Services Services the Video Production Unit provides to local police and sheriffs agencies include: Script and Video Development The video staff will read, proof, and evaluate video production scripts prepared for training or recruiting. Video Editing The video staff will assist a local department in editing tapes they have made for training, recruiting or public information. Video Equipment Selection If an agency is considering an equipment purchase, the video staff will assist in evaluating and recommending the equipment to best suit the needs and budget. Forensic Support Prints can be made from videotape to aid in the identification of suspects. Audio and videotape copying services are also available. |

Video/DVD Purchase Requests for tapes or DVDs should be submitted to the Academy Bookstore. Out-of-state orders must be prepaid. Orders are processed within five working days and shipped to the agency. No returns are accepted except for faults in materials or product workmanship. Some in-service tapes are accompanied by a facilitation guide that aids the trainer in the proper use of the videotape and interpretation of the subject matter.
